We know that the breast cancer screening process can be an intimidating and uncomfortable experience for just about everyone. That is why HVO developed The Modesty Wrap. A mammography gown made of lightweight material that gives the patient control over the garment from the time the patient leaves the dressing room, during the exam and then finally returning to the dressing room.

Community Programs
Day Services

The Hub serves as a gathering place for individuals enrolled in services to participate in meaningful special needs recreation, educational classes, and community inclusion activities, offering opportunities for leisure and personal growth.

State-funded day programs, such as LTCS and ADVP, offer organized adult day programs and developmental activities for adults with developmental disabilities to help them live as independently as possible. These programs focus on leisure activities, community living skills, vocational training, and personal skill development. Additionally, they provide support services to families and collaborate with other agencies to facilitate the client's transition to programs aimed at higher levels of functioning.

Innovationsis a Medicaid funded program that provides a variety of community-based services and supports for individuals who have developmental disabilities. This program avoids institutional care and promotes independence, choice, and community integration.
Employment & Training Program Services

HVO serves as an employment resource for the community, providing vocational rehabilitation services, pre-employment training, and day services to individuals with disabilities and/or disadvantages, including those socio-economically impacted through our partnership with DSS.
All training is geared to individual abilities and is designed to meet specific individualized needs. Assessments can also be administered to determine everyone's potential for supported employment services in the community. Goals are developed and individualized, enabling the person served to gain their highest degree of independence. HVO provides a spectrum of services that allow more choice, stability, and continuity for individuals served and has a fully integrated workforce to promote greater normalization and inclusion.

The MARC Program provides individualized workforce development services, including both hard and soft skill intensification, to individuals who are chronically unemployed or underemployed. These services align with supported employment services, offering targeted support to help participants achieve sustainable employment.

A person must meet Vocational Rehabilitations eligibility criteria for “most significantly disabled” to be eligible for this program. The individual must be capable of working independently or with the assistance of a 1:1 worker. However, the worker should not “do” the job for the individual. A HVO Employment Specialist will coach the individual (and the worker) to help learn their job duties. Coaching can last as long as needed to ensure job success. Referrals are made through Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities, formerly North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

The Work Adjustment & Work First Program are designed to help people prepare for employment by providing vocational rehabilitation services, training, and work experience. These programs also include social skills training to help individuals who are ready to work but need extra support to succeed.

Long Term Follow Along Support typically follows supported employment services and is designed to provide ongoing coaching and employment support activities that enable an individual to maintain long-term employment in the community.
Student Services

Transitional School Services are designed to prepare students 16 and older, to transition from school to the workforce by building soft skills through real world work experience and exposing them to employment options in the community.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) are short-term programs that help students with disabilities prepare for life after high school, including college and employment. These programs are offered through vocational rehabilitation services by Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities, formerly the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), in partnership with Haywood County Schools and HVO, Inc. They also provide access to supported employment services to enhance job readiness.
