Our Community Programs
Founded in 1972, Haywood Vocational Opportunities, Inc. (HVO) is a private, not-for-profit social enterprise corporation providing vocational training and employment, and meaningful opportunities to individuals with disabilities and individuals from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our programs aid in the development of an individuals’ fullest employment potential and advocate for each to work and engage in the community as qualified and productive citizens resulting in their economic viability and independence.
Since 1978, HVO has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), a globally recognized organization that provides accreditation services and helps programs implement best practices through proven systems and approaches. With over 50 years of experience, HVO serves individuals facing disadvantages, various disabilities, and physical or mental health conditions by offering hands-on employment training in manufacturing, custodial services, hospitality, retail, and food service to name a few. In addition to assistance with developing technical skills, participants are also trained in essential soft skills such as attendance, following instructions, and adhering to workplace policies.

Employment & Training Program Services
HVO serves as an employment resource for the community, providing vocational, pre-employment training, and day services to individuals with disabilities and/ or disadvantages refers to those who are socio-economically impacted that we serve through our partnership with the Department of Health & Human Services. All training is geared to the individual abilities and is designed to meet specific individualized needs.

Day Services
Program services provide prevocational, recreational, and social activities within HVO and the community for individuals with intellectual and/or other developmental disabilities. These activities are designed to prepare the individual to work as independently as possible and provide community inclusion opportunities. Services are provided in person, on the HVO campus or in the community. Admissions are authorized by VAYA Health.

Student Services
Student Services are designed to prepare students 14 and older, to transition from school to the workforce by building soft skills through real world work experience and exposing them to employment options in the community.
